In a notable development, the Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB), a spiritual organization based along the Beas River near Amritsar, announced on Monday that its leader, Gurinder Singh Dhillon, has appointed Jasdeep Singh Gill, 45, as its new patron and ‘Sant Satguru’. Gill, who holds a doctorate in chemical engineering from Cambridge University and is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, will assume this role immediately, effective September 2, 2024.
A statement from RSSB secretary Devender Kumar Sikri read: “Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon has appointed Jasdeep Singh Gill, son of Sukhdev Singh Gill, as the patron of the Radha Soami Satsang Beas Society with immediate effect. Jasdeep Singh Gill will also succeed Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon as the Sant Satguru of the RSSB and will have the authority to give initiation (naam).” Sikri added, “Baba Ji has expressed his gratitude for the support and love he received from the ‘sangat’ after Huzur Maharaj Ji and has requested that the same love and support be extended to Jasdeep Singh Gill in his service as patron and Sant Satguru.” The sect follows core spiritual beliefs shared by many religions, under the guidance of a living spiritual teacher.
